Eastern Cape is a South African province in the southeast of the county. It covers 169,580 km ² and has 6.85 million inhabitants, of those 85 percent are of Xhosa decent. The Eastern Cape was established in 1994 from the former homelands Ciskei and Transkei. The capital city of the Eastern Cape is Bisho.
